Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT)


A good data basis as well as pre-processed data are the basis not only for data-driven decisions, but also for optimizing production and increasing machine availability. Predictive maintenance can increase machine availability, holistically improve process quality and open up new business models. In order to exploit these potentials, first and foremost the possibility of data acquisition is required. Our research includes the conceptual design of flexible gateways so that protocol-independent data acquisition is possible. The connection of the gateway to machines and sensors is supported by a machine learning based recognition of the connected device. Edge computing can be used to process the data to provide a consistent format. By combining edge and cloud computing, the collected data can be aggregated in the cloud to create a data foundation across machines and locations. In addition to research in the industrial environment, the transfer of these technologies to industrially remote areas is also within our area of expertise.
